Frequently asked questions

Q. How do I know when the shares will start?

A. You will get an email notification to let you know when the first pick up will be.

Q. Where do I pick up my share?

A. Our Tuesday pick up site is United Church of Christ Congregational (UCC), 217 Sixth Street in Ames. Park in the parking lot to the east of the church. Walk up the concrete ramp, turn right and enter through the double glass doors. Vegetables and fruits are in the fellowship hall. Dairy is in the refrigerator or freezer in the kitchen. There will be someone there to direct you. The Thursday pick up site is Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames, 1015 N. Hyland.

Q. When is pick up?

A. Weekly on Tuesdays 4:30 till 6:15. Thursdays between 4:30 and 6:00pm.

Q. What if I can't make it during that time?

A. You may have someone else pick up for you. All food not picked up will be donated to the Bethesda Food Pantry.

Q. What is the procedure for picking up a share?

A. There will be a check in sheet by each share. Please find your name on the sheet and check off for the corresponding date. The food will be arranged on tables so you walk along the table and take the designated amount of each item. Please take items even if you can't use them and place unwanted items on the "sharing section" of the table. Use this procedure for each share you have purchased (example for veggie, fruit and dairy shares). Please bring your own bags for carrying home your produce.

Q. How does the sharing section work?

A. As a way to share things you may not like or need with other members, there is a sharing section at the end of each CSA area. Place unwanted items from your share and feel free to take items that are in the sharing section. You don't need to put something in sharing to take something.

Q. What if I am splitting a share with someone?

A. If you are splitting a share, the first share partner to arrive will check off and take the complete share from the tables. Then take the share to the "split share table" to divide it. Leave your partner's half in a bag with their name on it on the split share table.

Q. Where do I pick up my a la carte order?

A. There is a separate section for the a la carte orders toward the east end of the fellowship hall. Your order will be on a table with your name card next to it ready for pickup. Please bring your own container to carry produce home. The invoice will be taped to the table with a list of items ordered. Dairy items will be on the list, but stored in the refrigerator where you will go pick those up. Please check your list carefully against the produce you take to make sure you get everything. Your a la carte credit or balance due will be on your invoice. You may add funds to your account or pay your balance due at the site or mail a check to: Farm to Folk, 15219 590th Ave, Story City, IA 50248
